Can I Take Priligy and Viagra Together?

can you take priligy and viagra together

Premature ejaculation can be a problem in men who have erectile dysfunction. However, tempting as it may be, you cannot take Priligy and Viagra together.

Why can I not take the Priligy and Viagra together?

Both Priligy and Viagra lower your blood pressure. If you take the medicines together, the combined effect could reduce your blood pressure to a low enough level that symptoms like fainting will occur.

As a result, the safety of the medications when taken together has not been tested in clinical trials.

What should I do if both conditions occur together?

You should treat the erectile dysfunction first. Premature ejaculation can sometimes be resolved naturally once the treatment for erectile dysfunction starts.

Begin with Viagra and see if the premature ejaculation improves alongside the treatment. You can ask your prescriber to amend your dose if there is no improvement after the first few attempts.

If your erectile dysfunction improves but the premature ejaculation does not, there are a number of other therapies to try as opposed to Priligy.

Psychological Therapy

Premature ejaculation is a sensitive but very common issue. Up to a third of men may experience it at some point.

Communication with your partner is key because the focus of psychological therapy is to identify and resolve issues in your relationship that may cause or contribute to premature ejaculation.

Many psychological factors play a role in the onset of the condition. These include:

  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Unrealistic expectations about sexual performance
  • Lack of confidence
  • Lack of communication with your partner
  • Unresolved conflicts

The therapy also allows you to discuss any intimacy issues that have occurred because of the condition.

It will hopefully make you less nervous about your sexual performance and improve your sexual confidence. In many cases this will help with the resolution of premature ejaculation without the use of Priligy and Viagra.

Behavioural Therapies

Behavioural therapies are exercises which can help you develop tolerance to stimulation and delay ejaculation.

This requires cooperation from your partner so it’s important to communicate effectively with them.

The first technique is the squeeze technique. Your partner stimulates your penis until you are close to ejaculation. They then squeeze the penis hard enough that you partially lose your erection. This will build up your awareness of the sensations leading up to orgasm and hopefully help you to control them.

The second technique is the start-stop technique. Your partner should stimulate your penis until you are close to ejaculation and then stop until the urge subsides. As you gain control, let you partner know and they should then start again. Repeat the process three times and ejaculate on the fourth. Using this technique up to three times a week can help you gain control.

Success rates of 50-60% have been reported with these techniques in the short term.

Summary

It is not uncommon to experience erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation together. However, Priligy and Viagra cannot be taken together because of health risks like low blood pressure.

Erectile dysfunction can be resolved using medication such as Viagra. In many cases this will also help with premature ejaculation.

If symptoms do not improve, you can try psychological and behavioural therapies which have encouraging success rates.

Priligy should only be taken if you are no longer using Viagra.
