Priligy is part of a group of drugs called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by changing the activity of serotonin (which delivers messages to the brain) which is key in the process of ejaculation and delays this process for men who suffer from premature ejaculation.
Premature ejaculation is when a man experiences ejaculation soon after sexual contact; typically within two minutes of the beginning of sexual intercourse. The average male ejaculatory latency time is around 3-7 minutes. Men with PE often report emotional and relationship distress and it can be a difficult issue to talk about.
The results of numerous clinical trials have shown that Priligy can extend sexual performance time by 200% to 300%.
One Priligy tablet is to be taken with water one to three hours before sex. Priligy can be taken with or without food but is not to be taken more than once per day. In addition, Priligy is not intended for use every day, only when sexual activity is anticipated. The recommended starting dose of Priligy is 30mg but if your condition does not improve after taking this dosage, you can be prescribed the 60mg dose.
Priligy is normally well tolerated, however side effects can be common at th start and include:
- Dizziness/lightheadedness
- Sickness
- Headaches
- Feeling faint
If you feel faint you should Sit with your head between your knees, or lie down until the feeling passes. This prevent you hurting yourself if you do faint.
For more information about all the side effects visit the patient information leaflet.
Alcohol
Alcohol should be avoided when using Priligy as it can lead to dizziness, please see the details below:
Fainting
Priligy can cause some people to feel lightheaded and/or faint. If you experience any symptoms, such as nausea,
dizziness/lightheadedness, and sweating, you should immediately lie down so your head is lower than the rest of
your body or sit down with your head between your knees until the symptoms pass. Also, be cautious not to rise
quickly after prolonged lying or sitting.
Because of this, you should avoid situations where injury could result, including driving or operating hazardous
machinery after taking the medication.
All of the medications we provide are from trusted UK suppliers.
