Common effects include nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion and feeling unusually full. They are often strongest after starting or increasing the dose and usually improve with time. Contact the team if symptoms are persistent or difficult to manage.

Seek urgent medical attention for severe, persistent stomach pain, especially if it spreads to the back or comes with vomiting, as this may be pancreatitis. Get immediate help for a severe allergic reaction. With Wegovy, urgently report sudden loss or rapid worsening of vision.

Tell us about pancreatitis, gallstones, severe digestive problems or gastroparesis, kidney or liver disease, diabetes, diabetic eye disease, eating disorders and planned surgery. List every medicine, especially insulin, sulphonylureas and any other GLP-1 or weight-loss treatment.

Weight-loss medicines should not be used during pregnancy. Contact the prescriber immediately if pregnancy occurs. Semaglutide should be stopped at least two months before a planned pregnancy and tirzepatide at least one month before. Wegovy should not be used while breastfeeding; Mounjaro requires an individual prescriber assessment. If you use oral contraception with Mounjaro, add a barrier method or switch to a non-oral method for four weeks after starting and after every dose increase.
